A Writer's Manifesto
The Black Sea, Egypt, China, Germany are all the places I have traveled to in-person and through words. I would travel over the duns in Egypt with Tintin as he solved The Mystery of The Crab with the Golden Claws. I traveled back in time with Anne Frank and hid in an attic hoping the Nazis will not find me. Books were a means of travel for me, imagining myself in those places, going on adventures and meeting new people. My love of reading fueled my imagination with all sorts of ideas allowing me to daydream and make up stories in my head. In one week, I could travel to three different countries.
My Grandpapa would travel for work, filling my childhood imagination with new adventures. Although I did not get much time with him, I have vague memories of sitting in his lap while he made up stories with stuffed animals. I wanted to follow in the footsteps of my Grandpapa, who was an incredible storyteller. Now I get to experience my childhood adventures for myself and visit the places my Grandpapa traveled. To carry on my Grandpapa’s tradition of storytelling, I started to write books based on my experiences around the world. I found my character slowly evolve into me, a girl who goes on adventures and solves mysteries. A girl who is hard-headed and has a curious mind. Traveling, like reading, fueled my mind with endless ideas and historical facts, I could turn into stories. Stories which I hope will turn my readers into storytellers and adventure seekers.
